In celebration of Heritage Month, Khulisa Social Solutions is honouring renowned South African
author, traditional healer and spiritual leader, Credo Mutwa, by sharing a number of his original praise
songs on social media and our website during the week leading up to Heritage Day.
In celebration of Heritage Month, Khulisa Social Solutions is excited to announce a groundbreaking
initiative aimed at fostering dialogue and building bridges of understanding between members of the
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQIA+) community and the wider
community.
South African NGOs who have played an instrumental role in rebuilding peace and social cohesion
following the July 2021 civil unrest report that dialogue circles play an important role in preventing
future unrest and violence. The most recent crime statistics released by SAPS also reveal a
concerning picture with 6200 murders reported and 15 000 women assaulted between January to
March 2023.
Khulisa conducted a three days school holiday programme at Plot 04 Video, Muldersdrift. The school holiday programme was aimed at improving the quality of young people’s lives by protecting and preventing them from engaging in criminal activities.
In celebration of Women’s Month Khulisa would like to highlight the women who have overcome challenging circumstances to run successful enterprises in under-resourced communities.
Today, the 14th July 2023, I reconnected with Magadien Wentzel in Cape Town.
It is almost 20 years since our first encounter. Below follows a narrative of my journey with him shortly after his release.
Khulisa has proudly added two awards namely, the ‘CEO Today Africa Award’ and ‘Best
Social Solutions Not-for-Profit 2023’ to its diverse list of accolades.
South Africa continues to grapple with a myriad of challenges including high unemployment, crime, poverty, and inequality which remain on an upward trajectory. Consequently, marginalised communities throughout the country endure the negative effect of these challenges, and therefore, interventions to lessen the impact of these socioeconomic challenges have become critical.
Day May 2023, Johannesburg – During the year 2022, following Khulisa’s training of 10 Non-
Government Organisations (NGOs) in dialogue circles and peace-making, the subsequent growth has
led to numerous dialogue circles reaching many people from foreign demographic groups.
Despite a global shift toward a more humanitarian and democratic society, with new child protection legislation and family policies, the majority of South Africans experience serious problems in their families, especially concerning the lack of parental responsibility and the presentation of problematic child behaviour.

8 March 2023 Johannesburg: In October 2021, Khulisa Social Solutions embarked on the Sustainable Livelihoods Programme, after receiving donor funding. The focus area of the programme, is the Amandelbult and Rustenburg catchment areas.
27 March 2023, Johannesburg – Screening by Khulisa for children by caregiver-participants from 53 early childhood development (ECD) centres in Alexandra was done through a questionnaire focussing on behavioural changes, social and physical development, personality, and general health of children that may be concerning or possible indicators of domestic child abuse.
