“I now have a clear understanding on the root causes of crime and how they impact our community”

Khulisa conducted a three days school holiday programme at Plot 04 Video, Muldersdrift. The school holiday programme was aimed at improving the quality of young people’s lives by protecting and preventing them from engaging in criminal activities. Additionally, the programme aimed at identifying factors contributing to the high rate of crime in the community. Through dialogue circle, role plays and public speaking, children were provided with the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings on the topic.
It has been proven that during the school holidays children are exposed to a number of social ills. Khulisa Social Solutions in partnership with Thabang Lephele Community Organization, Monoto Organization and the Department of Social Development, provided quality, safe recreation experiences for children and above all, a chance to learn, relax and enjoy themselves after a long school term. They were also taught good lifelong leisure habits and learnt about the impact of crime.
“I humble myself before you, it was fruitful and exciting to work with you and your team. Our children are very happy with your hospitality, life skills training and psychosocial support”
Mr. Khoza (Thabang lephele Community Organization)
This was our first school holiday programme implementing the newly introduced programmes and through this, we were able to see a positive response from the children.
This warmed our hearts, knowing that the work we do and the time we spent on these programmes are promising to bring about change and impact which is the outcome that we as Khulisa Social Solutions are aiming for.

The children we were working with at Plot 4 Video are beneficiaries of Thabang Lephele Community Organization which is an organization working with orphans and vulnerable children. These children come from poor background families and as a result they are impacted with a wide variety of risk factors ranging from health concerns, difficulties at school, difficulties meeting basic needs such as clothing, food, housing security, school uniforms, school stationery and young girls struggling with obtaining sanitary pads.
Our involvement in the area is to identify the needs of the children and refer them to relevant service providers. We also provide psychosocial support as well as life skills. Furthermore, during the school holidays, we created safe recreation experiences for children and above all a chance to learn, relax and enjoy themselves after a long school term.
