FEMALE FARMERS PROSPERING ON GAME LODGE IN NEWCASTLE

In 2015 Khulisa partnered with the Global Give-back Circle to introduce a gap year for 120 matriculants in the communities of Oseswene, Madadene and Charlestown in the New Castle district. During this period they were provided with extensive training based on needs identified by girls in 5 schools during their matric year.

Currently five female farmers are located at Grey Goose Lodge in Newcastle where an agreement for an expansive farming project has been reached.  The long term plan is to develop a post-graduation programme for agricultural students on the location.

Currently the project includes a production +- 400 eggs per day and 5,4 ha of vegetable gardening.  Supporting our young farmers, is a qualified horticulturalist and mentors seconded  Khulisa by the Department of Agriculture.
